Palm Beach is home to some of the most beautiful and distinctive wedding venues in South Florida, and Royal Poinciana Chapel has a character all its own. Its charming architecture, soft blue-gray exterior, white trim and lush tropical surroundings make it a beautiful setting for a Palm Beach wedding—and wonderful inspiration for watercolor wedding stationery.

When I began designing my newest Royal Poinciana Chapel wedding invitation suite, I wanted the venue itself to become part of the invitation. Rather than simply choosing colors or botanical elements inspired by Palm Beach, I started with an original painting of the chapel and built the stationery collection around it.

The result is a romantic blue and white wedding invitation suite designed with my hand-painted watercolor of Royal Poinciana Chapel.

Painting Royal Poinciana Chapel in Watercolor

My process for creating watercolor wedding invitations often begins long before I start designing on the computer. For the Royal Poinciana Chapel collection, it started with a graphite drawing.

I sketched the architecture of the chapel by hand, paying particular attention to the features that make the building recognizable. Once the drawing was complete, I selectively added fine Micron pen details to define some of the architectural elements without making the illustration feel overly precise.

Then came the watercolor. I used a light, predominantly blue palette to capture the chapel while maintaining the loose, romantic quality I love in watercolor artwork. I wanted enough architectural detail for couples to immediately recognize their wedding venue, while still allowing the painting to feel soft and artistic.

The finished watercolor was then digitized and transformed into the centerpiece of the invitation design.

For me, that process is an important part of what makes these invitations special. The chapel illustration isn’t a stock graphic or a generic representation of a church. It began as an original drawing and painting created specifically to capture the character of this beautiful Palm Beach wedding venue.

From Original Watercolor to Wedding Invitation Suite

Once the Royal Poinciana Chapel watercolor was complete, I began designing the coordinating stationery.

The invitation features the hand-painted chapel artwork as the focal point, paired with elegant typography and a soft blue and white palette.

I carried the watercolor details throughout the wedding invitation suite so the individual pieces feel connected without making every element identical.

The coordinating envelope features a watercolor botanical element. A simple RSVP card keeps the collection feeling classic and uncluttered, while a blue die-cut details card with white typography introduces a slightly more modern element to the suite.

Together, the pieces create a wedding invitation that feels distinctly Palm Beach: elegant and timeless, but relaxed enough for a Florida celebration.

Royal Poinciana Chapel Wedding Invitations

Couples getting married at Royal Poinciana Chapel now have the option of incorporating an artistic interpretation of their wedding venue into their invitations without commissioning an entirely new venue painting.

The Royal Poinciana Chapel wedding invitation suite is part of my collection of semi-custom wedding invitations. The artwork and overall design have already been created, while the wording and personal details are customized for each couple.

This offers the look and personality of custom watercolor wedding stationery with a simpler ordering process.

Venue illustrations can also create a lovely visual thread throughout a wedding. Artwork from an invitation can inspire coordinating details and day-of stationery, helping the celebration feel connected from the first piece of mail guests receive to the wedding day itself.

A Palm Beach Wedding Venue Worth Painting

One of the things I love about designing wedding stationery in South Florida is the incredible variety of settings available to couples.

Among the many beautiful Palm Beach wedding venues, Royal Poinciana Chapel lends itself especially well to watercolor. The combination of historic architecture, soft coastal colors and tropical surroundings feels perfectly at home on paper.

For couples planning a Royal Poinciana Chapel wedding, incorporating the chapel into the invitation also gives guests their first glimpse of where the celebration will take place. Instead of simply telling guests the location, the invitation begins to tell the story of the wedding. And that’s one of my favorite things about venue-inspired wedding invitations.

Custom Watercolor Venue Wedding Invitations

Of course, Royal Poinciana Chapel is only one venue that can become part of a wedding invitation design.

If you’re getting married somewhere else, I also create custom watercolor venue wedding invitations using original artwork painted specifically for your celebration.

Your church, resort, estate, country club, historic property or other meaningful location can be transformed into a watercolor illustration and incorporated into a custom wedding invitation suite.

For destination weddings, the artwork doesn’t necessarily have to be the ceremony venue either. A lighthouse, coastline, historic landmark, garden, architectural detail or another location connected to the destination can become the inspiration for the stationery.

The goal is to create an invitation that feels connected to the place where you’re getting married—and gives your guests a beautiful introduction to what they will experience when they arrive.

Watercolor Wedding Invitations Inspired by Your Venue

Whether you choose an existing semi-custom design or commission an original venue painting, I believe wedding invitations should feel personal to the celebration they introduce.
